Is it normal to remember embarrassing moments in the past and still feeling bad

A year ago, in college, I had a teacher that was very kind to me when I took her class and helped me get the grade I wanted. I attached a note to my teacher after grades were posted along with information she wanted:

[name]

Thank you for your generous help this quarter. I truly appreciate your willingness to work with my [name of assignment] as well as your clear and detailed explanations to all my other concerns. In the end, it was a direct reason why I was able to improve and exceed my goal for this class!

Thanks again,
[my name]

But then next quarter my teacher would avoid me and the last time me and my former teacher were walking at a close distance toward each other. My teacher then turned around looked my dead in the eyes with a blank face and then turned around and walked away... I felt so foolish and embarrassed... even today sometimes.

If that's one of the more embarrassing moments of your life you're doing pretty damn well.

When i was 24 i was in the hospital for a few weeks. By the 2nd week with no sexual release, i decided to crank one out. I was wearing portable heart monitor that sent my vitals to the nurses station. Well after a few minutes of spankin it my heart rate climbed pretty high and alerted her. she burst into the unlockable bathroom to find me with a hospital gown pulled above my waist and my dick in my hand. That was embarrassment!

She had a look of complete shock, said a few hurried unintelligible words, and rushed out.

The funny thing is the nurses there worked 12 hr shifts, where they are assigned multiple patients. I was one of hers, yet i didn't see her for the rest of the night. She had another nurse tend to me for her. I think she was as embarrassed as i was. I felt like every doctor and nurse that saw me after that knew. Luckily, i was discharged 2 days later. Never saw her again.

You were really formal about it. I'd have waited until I saw the teacher and then just say, "Hey, thanks by the way. I really appreciated your help".

However, formal or not, I don't get why the teacher would act that way.

Uhoh, I teach and I think you're reading too much into her reaction. I've met kids I teach and don't even recognise them - either I'm thinking of something else or it's out of context.

So here's her reaction.... "Aw a wee thank you note, nice!" Throws it in the bin (unless it's a Thank You card) and carries on with the mountains of other paperwork. You must consider how many students are in each class she takes, she may have hundreds - as well as people in her own personal life. Why would she take umbrage at a thank you note? No, she probably doesn't remember it at all, or that it was even from you :o( Sorry but true.

    Chill out!

I have dozens of Thank You cards and couldn't tell you which pupil sent even one of them.

    You think that's embarrassment!
One of the snooty bitches came out of the bathroom and had tucked the back of her skirt down her tights, then stood at the bar to be served. No-one told her for ages, not a pretty picture.

And... when I was 14 yo and came home, there was a sex scene on TV, I couldn't make it out with all the arms and legs and said to my dad, "What are they doing?" Then the camera moved for a long shot and I could see clearly - oops!!

Well that's a bit rude. Totally normal to be embarrassed.
To this day I'm still embarrassed about having one of those cliche period moments at school and doing the whole jacket round the waist thing. That was about 8 years ago.

I agree with Frosties. It seems like the teacher has a problem. I don't see why someone would/should act that way.

uh...I don't think there's anything wrong with your note.

    She's...not normal.

you should let it go, it's not normal to feel bad about something innocent like that.
