Is it normal to remove my earbuds to make sure no one else can hear my music?

Whenever I'm around other people, I don't want them to hear the music I'm listening to. So whenever I'm studying at the library for example, or walking around campus I take off my earbuds every once in a while to make sure it's plugged correctly and nothing is coming out of the speakers. I also want to make sure I'm not playing the music too loud because whenever I'm around other people I often can hear their music.

    It's not only normal, but considerate. Unless you OBSESSIVELY check to see that there is not some volume malfunction. That isn't normal, that's OCD.

    lol i do this too mostly for the fact that people dont want to hear what im listening and because im alittle embrassed of my taste.

    OHMYGOSH I THOUGHT I ONLY DID THIS, I DONT LIKE PEOPLE HEARING WHAT I LISTEN TO, I FEAR THAT THEY WONT LIKE IT AND MAKE FUN OF ME OR SOMETHING, SO I TAKE OUT MY EAR BUDS TO MAKE SURE MY MUSIC IS NOT TO LOUD OR SOMETHING AND IF IT IS I TURN IT DOWN, AND IF SOMEONE IS LOOKING AT ME WHILE IM LISTING TO MUSIC I TAKE OUT MY EAR BUDS TO MAKE SURE THEY CANY HEAR IT!!

    i do this all the time. But secretly, i want people to know what i'm listening to. I love music and want other people to hear what i love.

    Do u think people will criticize you or laugh at you for the kinda music u listen to or something? Or just being courteous? Either way, I think it's normal

    Respectful. Thank you. I wish everyone did this...I don't understand why some people are convinced that I want to listen to their rap jamzzz. Plus is sounds painful.
