Is it normal to say the truth but exaggerating a little (adding extra bits)

Is it normal to tell someone the truth but to exaggarate it a little so techinically your not lieing because it did happen but you're adding a little bit to it to make it sound more "interesting" and thinking what could've happened. IIN? and is it classed as lieing?

I think everybody does this to an extent.

It is the art of story telling. The total truth is too damn boring.

I always go back and admit when I catch myself doing something like that. It's better than looking like a jackass later when you get caught in one of your little "additions"!

I know what you mean, I sometimes find myself doing this and not understanding why I had to add extra information. I don't even realize I do it until afterwards, and then I ask my self why I exaggerated such a simple story.

I've done it too. I always feel bad afterwards. Im pretty sure it's as bad as lying.

I'm sure people do it without thinking. Everyone does it. Whenever I listen to people I expect it.
