Is it normal to see clouds in your basement?

I was over my best friends house, and I was sleeping over. She had said her house was haunted but I thought she was joking. She had said that ghosts sometimes come out from her closet and her door opens and she hears footsteps. It was hot one night so we slept in her cold basement. Her basement had this weird locked door that nobody opened yet "supposedly". So I'm about to chill in her recliner, when all of a sudden, a cloud forms in front of my face. I woke her up to let her see but she couldn't see it. It was crazy. What does this mean? I think it turned purple, Idk, it was dark. It went away like 3 hours later after floating near the exit at the top of the stairs.
