As I'm eating my plate of food, whether it be spaghetti or a bowl of soup, I allow my cat to eat along with me at the same time.my bf thinks its disgusting and so does my dad but I think its sweet and see nothing wrong with it.I mean, she's an indoor clean cat, she's healthy and all.anyway what do u think, IIN? :)
A lot of cats actually have a parasitic worm in their digestive system that in humans inhabits the brain and is incurable. This causes depression and decreased reaction time. However since this parasitic worm if it was in your cat (and there is a good chance) is now in your brain as well now I guess the reason not to do it is kind of moot. However there are a few other parasites you might catch since cats eat rodents if they find them.

I actually love cats and own one. It only takes a reasonable amount of hygiene to avoid the parasite that should be second nature to a civilized person. You know wash your hands before eating, don't let animals eat from your food and keep them from children too young to know better.
However on the positive side of things the poster here has in a way acquired a second pet. Of course that pet is parasitic worm that is consuming her brain and will for the duration of her life.
I do this with my animals. I like watching them eat. It makes me want to give them a hug. Which afterwards they go back to eating.

Even if the cat is an 'indoor' pet, it's unhygienic.
I have a cat, and if I ever feed him at the same time is when I peel bits of meat from a dish, put it on a plate and let him eat it. And he eats below the dining table.
There are limits to sharing with your animal companion.
I think it's normal to share and probably explosively cute with a kitten but there are germs. I actually worry more about germs from people who look gross and dirty. I'd love to share food with my Siamese cat but he's not a begger and is also really finicky so the separate plate for him thing just wastes food. Sometimes I get to share with him and those times I just let him eat out of my hand. If I could afford it and he was more of a begger I'd give him fresh sushi or steak every night. Of course I love meat and fish too! Oh I almost forgot he does really like yogurt and yes I let him eat out of my cup. My dad thinks it's gross too and I'm way too old for this but I can't help it I love him like a child!

Uhh...Ewww. I'll let my dogs lick the plate or take something from my fork because their mouth doesn't actually touch it but that's it. And why do so many cat owners let the damn things strut around on the counter? Ummm their feet have been in the litterbox and now they are on food prep surfaces. Woof.

BIG ASS PAW PRINT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PASTA, and he scratched the shit of out me too. i slapped the shit out of him. then had to wash his red paw, so he did track on the carpet. really it just they need to know boundries, cat or dog. but i 2nd the WOOF
