Whenever I take a dump, I remove both my pants and underwear, and I bring me feet onto the seat. I then let my arms dangle forward (or I cross them over my knees and let my chin rest on them). I feel really comfortable sitting like this when I take a dump, especially if I'm feeling sick while I'm on the can.
Ever since humans have been around they have squatted to take a dump. It's only in the last 100 years or so that people have started to sit on the toilet invention.
Squatting to poo has a lot of benefits and there's even a theory that it helps prevent bowel and prostate cancer because it is much more effective at emptying the colon.
It's actually a better position for your bowels. It causes less strain and helps with constipation.
that made me laugh. toilet is made to sit like you are sitting in a chair, but if you don't want to, go ahead. anyway, there are squat toilets, where you have to squat down to poop. they are used commonly in india and i think turkey. so i guess it is normal, it puts pressure on your abdomen and opens up your butt hole making it easy for you to poop.
I've read that it is much healthier and that is why there are foot stools designed for your toilet called "Squatty Potty". you should purchase it so you don't fall off one day. have fun and enjoy pooping, you are doing it right.
I know someone that use to do this. At first I thought it was strange. However you choose to go is completely normal. I'm sure we all have things we do that could be viewed as 'not normal'
So keep being you and poo how you choose.
