Is it normal to sometimes zone out seemingly at random?

I tend to zone out sometimes and just stare at nothing for seconds, and it's hard to get back on focus. I can zone out while typing and keep typing while not looking at the screen, since I just zone out and stare at nothing as my vision gets kinda blurry.

Again, when this happens it's sometimes hard to get focus back, I feel this weird sensation that bothers me when trying to get back on focus and once I do I'm likely to zone out again in short notice.

Anyone else?

  • Yeah, I get like that often

All my brain power is focused on a train of thought, tying loose ends, processing possibilities and probabilities

A precursor to that state of mind is being comfortable enough in my environment to forego my survival instincts, not paying attention to background noise, not being concerned about anything around me

I used to get into that state by accident and would snap out of it rather quickly once I realized I was in it. My statistics teacher would call it the "in the zone" effect, where you're on your A game until you realize it

Now if I realize it and I can validate foregoing those survival instincts I can actually intensify that absent-minded focus and keep it going, drawing things to a nice conclusion and integrating whatever I need to

Since you mentioned it, there are times when I'm typing where my eyes basically shut down and I see with my mind instead and I just go full 120+ wpm, with good grammar and spelling, straight from my mind to the tip tap of my finger tips. I haven't really used a keyboard in some time, but I'm certain I can still do it
