Is it normal to spit when smoking?

Whenever I have a cicigarette I often find myself spitting for some reason, I'm not really sure why I do it, it's just out of habit I guess. I've noticed that so far I'm the only one that I've seen that does it. Is it weird?

Yes it's normal. Smoking causes you to salivate, and for most people, the taste of tobacco ridden saliva is not pleasant, so they spit it out.

I used to smoke, but I quit because smoking increases the your chances of all cancers, not just lung cancer. I have sun damage in my left eye and my ophthalmologist told me to quit because I'm at risk for skin cancer. I don't want to lose an eye, so I quit.

I'm lucky though, because I don't have a chemically addictive personality.

What happens to the cigarette when you spit. Does it go flying out of your mouth, too?
