Is it normal to take ssris prn?

I have some Paxil and celexa left over from when I had a doctor and I’m so angry and depressed all the time I feel like just macrodosing on that shit to stop this emotional pain at least til I get health insurance again and get a real solution

Just take 5-htp supplements. It naturally increases serotonin and effects you almost immediately. Don't mess with that psychiatric crap. Too many stupid side effects and taking 6-8 weeks to work is ridiculous, not to mention withdrawal crap if you stop taking it. Sometimes I think the drugs are worse than the disease.

You need to see a doctor. But in the meantime....I don't know what you mean by "macrodosing", but don't take both of them together, unless it's in the exact combination dose prescribed by your doctor. And don't take more of a dose than what was prescribed to you. Also, don't take any of them if you were told by a doc to discontinue use. Both of those are SSRIs. Taking more than your prescribed dose often makes things worse because of their mechanism of action. Don't think taking three times the dose will make them work three times better or faster. That's just not how they work. Also, if you've been off the drugs for a few months, both those drugs usually take 2-4 weeks to start working again. So, if you don't have enough for many weeks dosing, you're wasting your time.

I am a medical student. No, Paxil (paroxetine) or Celexa (citalopram) are not PRN drugs. It is common for therapeutic results to be achieved after taking it daily up to 6-8 weeks. If you run out, of your surplus, you could experience withdrawal symptoms that will make your depression symptoms worsen.
