Is it normal to text yourself from a friends phone and carry on a conversation?

MY cousin just told me that she sometimes will text herself from her friends phone and respond from her phone. She told me that she carries on whole conversations...with herself hahaha....is that normal?

    That text thing is so childish i told my gf if she do anything ill dump simple cuz i hate that pushing the buttons thind or unleashing the button beast thing so just free comminucate from ps3 online easy way XD

    Well if she is texting from her friends phone, then I'm assuming that the friend is with her, so why doesn't she talk to her friend. I hate when I'm hanging out with my friend and all she does is text.
