Is it normal to think dropping out of high school is usually a bad move?

I graduated high school, basically because I did not want to put forth the effort to drop out then have to take a ton of classes anyway just to get my GED.

But I have an awful lot of friends who dropped out of high school because:
1)They were sick of the "drama"
2)The teachers didn't like them
3)It was boring.

1 and 2 were my problems in the beginning, so I stopped talking to people there. Or at least the touble makers. Done deal. It's not them having to take the GED classes when I drop out, it's me.
3 I understand, but life isn't always super exciting.

I can understand dropping out for necessity, like problems at home that hinder you from going to school, having to support your family etc. But the reasons that my friends had for dropping out are ridiculous and are the majority of what I hear as to why people dropped out. Then they call me a "blind follower" and a "government drone" for staying in school. But I gotta pay the rent, jobs are hard to find without a diploma, y'know? :(

Unless you're ridiculously smart. Most of us aren't. My friends sure aren't.

is it normal that I think dropping out of high school is normally a bad move?

If a student has to drop out of High School for legitimate reasons, then that's totally understandable. Without a diploma society is making it hard for people to make a living...

  • I dropped out when I turned 15... Worst decision of my life but then some people don't have the same chances as others for example I was homeless I couldn't keep up with my work & a lot of other people have reasons like that too xxx

I dropped out of High school my senior year with only four months left but it was basically impossible for me to graduate because of some issues. Therefore the school board thought it better if I just quit. I plan on going back next year though just because I understand how hard it will be to get a job. So yeah, it's pretty normal to think that.(:

It all depends on why you drop out and what you do afterwards.

i've seen some drop out to do menial labor. but i've also seen some drop out to go to college.

It's almost always a poor decision to leave high school. Partially because the diploma something that will make life much easier in the future. Partially because, whether you admit it or not, you are learning things while you are in school. Things that will come back and be used again in the future, as well as making you a more overall educated person and improving your decision making abilities.
