Is it normal to think gaming disorder is actually addiction?

I just heard on the news that being addicted to video games, is actually going into the DSM, as "Gaming Disorder" . But to me, it should just be lumped into the category of addiction, not a whole new disorder. IIN?

I feel like this is a ploy for white suburban mothers to justify bad parenting skills.

Gaming is an addiction. A friend of mine formatted his sons drive because he would not back off and spent way too much time gaming. Excessive action yes. A lot of yelling yes but it solved the problem.

I agree with you. I am addicted to gaming to the point of spending hundreds of dollars.

  • If you can't control yourself and can't live a balanced life without doing something, it's a problem. How people call it and give it different names doesn't matter as much as the fact that it is a problem, and you need to get rid of the problem. You might not need to get rid of the habit, so you might still be able to do what you want, but you must sort the problem.

It's not addiction unless there are physical withdrawal symptoms. Video game addiction is bullshit. You don't have an addiction just cause you're a lazy blob with no interests.
