Is it normal to think instagram/facebook are the cause of so many "simps" nowadays?

Do you think social networking may be influencing men to become pussy-beggars, or most of them have been always like that?

When all your pride is in one basket and that basket is a profile on a screen, then yeah. You need to be a more rounded, fuller individual than that.

That, the internet, and online gaming, maybe even the fact that young people dont get jobs now until later. I could be wrong this is anecdotal but it appears to me since the internet got popular teenage boys arent ad physically fit as they use to be. When I was in highschool most of us were lifting weights building up and not at home playing games. Teenagers looked tougher and manlier years ago. I see alot of them now look really skinny or really fat. Too much video games.

I don't know what would drive someone to be a simp. I can't think of anything more humiliating than having an attractive girl announce to the world that I paid her money to acknowledge my existence. Put me out of my misery if I ever get that pathetic

Back in the day those gents would have had to slink off to Ye Olde Brothel to shower a lady of the night with praise and adulation. Nowadays they have the connivance of doing it from the comfort of their iPhone with the side effect of broadcasting it to your eyeballs.

I don't know. I really have no idea.
Maybe Facebook is contributing, but it may just be the internet in general. Ogling a picture of a lady is easier than doing it to her face. Social media allows people to follow girls easier than they could before... but...

The concept of simping has been around forever, we just didn't call it that. One of my first introductions to the idea was Larry Butz from the Ace Attorney games (the first of which released in Japan in 2001). I probably saw it in movies before that, but I was just entering high school at the time I played it in the States.

It's a running joke in the original trilogy that Larry has a different girlfriend in every case he shows up in. He does everything for these girls because they're hot, then they inevitably dump him for someone else. Literally, in the very first case of the first game, he's referred to as a "sugar daddy."

So, I don't really know if simping is becoming more common, or if they're just more visible. High-maintenance women trailed by guys weighed down with all the clothes they bought for her isn't a new thing. Just... instead of seeing them at the mall, we're seeing them on Facebook and OnlyFans.

That said, if data showed that social networks are causing it, I wouldn't be surprised.

I think people too lazy/stunted to go and socialise properly is the cause.

But yes those things certainly exacerbate it.

Men have always been more desperate than women, social media only highlights that fact. Just look at dating apps like Tinder and how there's a shit ton of men looking for matches even in small cities, but a very small amount of active women. It's just how it is.
