Is it normal to think instant communication is messing up our communication?

I think there's an important difference and specific function for chats instead of emails, but the line is getting blurry and people don't notice how important it is for communication.

In smaill details, of course, but it makes a difference that we underestimate.
The timing for reading and answering an email is different, the formality of our message, the way we express, etc.

Your thought seems unfinished, I don't get the point you're trying to make... Instant messaging is nice because it's in real time, making it more personal and easier than email to keep a conversation going. I pretty much only use email for formal purposes.

    • Yes, it's hard to sum up my thoughts on this. Sorry.

  • What confuses me sometimes is when people don't seem to notice that difference and use facebook or whatsapp for important, work related (or otherwise more complex ) information.

Also sometimes I just don't feel like getting an answer right away and having to start a conversation, just get the info. through to the other person.

I often like email better than a verbal conversation. With verbal people want an answer right now. I often like to think before I speak. It sometimes makes them mad. They get tired of waiting for an answer and say WELL!! I tell them I have not forgot the ? I was simply giving thought to what my answer was. Rather than just blurting out my first thought.email gives me all the time I want and can read it before I send it.

@iamnormal?, sometimes the delay is because, like now, i am drunk. when i drink and go online, my brain is slower, and email would help me, but i rather use the chat function because it is more open and arousing. for me, i do not worry about "blurting out my first thought"...
