Is it normal to think pain is the reason?

Without pain, there would be no religion, people would not have believed in God. the idea of any religion is, if you are good you go to heaven and if you are bad you go to hell.

Let's look at hell for a moment. Hell is punishment. OK

Why would you punish someone ,well..
1- so that they don't do it again (we're dead, we can't do it again, so no point)
2- so others learn from your mistake and they don't do it in the first place (no one around you will come back to live life again, they are all dead, so it's not it)
3- Revenge .. this is the only one that can work. Will god want revenge? does god (the creator of the universe and everything in it) want revenge from a fisherman, a farmer, a mother .. does not make sense to me

so, this leads me to the conclusion there is no Hell, religions use this because we relate to pain, we understand pain, but as punishment fails to establish a logical reason, this leads me to thing its all made up.

do you agree?

The evolution of religion is interesting. Before this present one god thing, multiple gods were necessary for food, weather, etc. Once we figured out how the environment and weather patterns worked, bam one god to administer social law. Yup, sounds made up to me.
