Is it normal to think super skinny people are disgusting and disturbing?

Really skinny people have always creeped me out. All of their movements seem too angular like a spider. Their skin seems to be stuck to their bones like beef jerky or a dead mummified corpse with rigor mortis and dry gangrene. They look really spazzy when they walk, and their hands and feet look disgustingly huge for the size of their wrists and ankles.

They often have veiny, narrow necks with a big gaunt head on top that looks like it could roll off at any time. They make me think of poverty, sickness, and death. It's a visceral, guttural reaction I get when I see them. Their boniness makes them seem helpless but they're usually really cocky and confident and that disconnect between two incongruous things is really nauseating. It's even worse when the person has quite dark skin where everything is so deeply shadowed they almost disappear like a creepy cave painting.

They always seem to move in jerks, too quickly; they're like creepy hummingbirds. Their knee and elbow joints look riddled with gout because they appear to be these massive bumpy growths. They look like they shouldn't be able to do anything without fainting from exhaustion and malnourishment. Older skinny people are so wrinkled and dried out they look like walking skeletons. I'm always afraid they'll break when they fall or trip; they look so fragile.

The internet is absolutely brimming with people that hate on overweight and obese people, and I always wonder why there's nobody brave enough to admit they find the opposite just as disgusting, if not more. I'm sure you think/wish this was a troll, but it's not. If you're underweight, you don't look your best, you look weak, frail, and deformed. Everyone should aim to be a healthy weight. It's better to be slightly overweight than anorexic. At least overweight people look healthy/alive! Guys who are skinny don't look hot or cool, they look like sticks. Having a narrow waist as a girl is nice, but not when it's paired with hollow cheeks and no butt.

I'm sorry if you medically can't gain weight, but this is just one person's most likely very unusual opinion. Is there anyone out there that agrees with this?

BTW, no I would not have posted this if I wasn't so sick of people thinking it's OK to hate on one extreme end of a spectrum and not the other. Maybe this will knock some sense into someone when they realize how ridiculous and mean-spirited it is to share an opinion which alienates a large portion of the population.

The solution isn't hating on the other side of the spectrum, that just adds to the body shame. We shouldn't be shaming people for the way they look, instead we should be promoting health.

Also some people don't have three meals a day or the money to be able to support themselves and their family. If you're disgusted by it so much why don't you volunteer at a soup kitchen or help people that are starving.

What a sad post. You are vile, gross, disgusting etc.

Please kindly take your sick thoughts away from other peoples' bodies, you fucking troll.

Oh, c'mon, you're too lazy to even finish your string of insults!

These comments only further serve to highlight the bias in America today. My former teacher was attacked on FB for being slightly overweight and not one person defended her, and I've seen similar all across the internet where minorities are attacked, but of course when someone dares to give their true opinion about super skinny people, everybody rushes to their defense, as if they're already so hard-done-by being offered modeling contracts left and right despite their skeletal faces.

Gimme a break and go insult somebody who deserves it. You're probably just some skinny, defensive, fattist, sexist, homophobic, and racist person yourself, anywayz.

      *sticks tongue out*

BTW, just because someone has an opinion that differs from the masses of brainwashed sheep doesn't mean they're trolling, k? You know I'm right, you know it's unfair, but you'd rather just take the easy side. You can come back and insult me once skinny, white, straight people are the minority being harassed daily.

        1) I'm not American.

        2) Any negative thoughts about the body's of other people are shit. You do not have the right to such a hateful opinion. You're trying to be the body police, and body police can eat shit. All people should love their body, no matter what size or shape. Using vile metaphors like "skeletal", "poverty", "death" etc. are fucking horrible ways to describe the body of another human being.

        3) Why do you think that spreading the hate is a good strategy to support fat people who face prejudice? If you want to help fat people, please Google "fat acceptance movement". I can almost totally guarantee no fat person here appreciates you spreading hate in their name.

        4) Your hate-filled post has probably made someone feel awful. Words have consequences. I hope you're proud of yourself.

        5) I love and support fat people. I hate and reject the stigmatization of any body.

Ugh, I knew this was gonna be some butthurt fat person that's upset about getting rejected, or a white knight or whatever talking bullshit to make themselves feel better. Good job at fighting fire with fire. Do you also wanna say people with clear skin are disgusting? People with straight teeth? People with 20/20 vision? otherwise, they have a health related abnormality that can be fixed, just like fat people. If you're fat you either accept the fact that not everyone will find you attractive or else you fix your health problem. No living thing is supposed to be overweight - it's a health issue. Why would you encourage people to be unhealthy?

Some people, especially those who are tall, have a hard time gaining weight and, as a result, they may appear very skinny. Instead of insulting others who are different from ourselves, we should learn to respect and appreciate diversity.

This whole "healthy weight" thing though.
    What is a 'healthy weight'?
To me, a healthy weight is when a person, any person, fat or thin, can function normally without it harming them somehow or without it being detrimental to their joints or other frail parts of their body.

I couldn't care less about other peoples' bodies or shape. It's none of my business. Everybody has their own battle to fight; whether it be anorexia or obesity.

I do agree with your thoughts. It's natural to think this... but if you go to extremes by actually letting another person know that you find their body disgusting... that's just not nice.

Fat people know they're fat. Skinny people are aware of the fact that they are skinny.

I just think that this way of thinking (regarding your post) does not aid anybody in any way. It just hurts feelings.

There' this girl on here who used to be fat. Somehow, something happened in her life that made her decide to lose a lot of weight. Now she's skinny. She probably got made fun of a lot when she was bigger, it probably hurt a lot too.
If she had to read your post now.. it would probably hurt her too.
I admire that girl for what she has done and achieved.

    Just let people be.

When I was about 18, I read in one book that a healthy weight for me was somewhere between 114 and 154 lbs. Of course that has a lot to do with bone structure and muscle mass or lack thereof.

ikr? i, for one, think it's a natural human repulsion because we're meant to be frightened by sickness and death.

people are always telling people they need to lose weight trying to be 'helpful', but you never hear anyone going around saying "you should gain a few"... not since the victorian era anywayz

This is rude. There are many different kinds of skinny people; healthy ones and unhealthy ones, stylish ones and unstylish ones. Some people cannot gain weight and healthy. Some people lost weight but are battling an illness. SOme people, the ones internet trolls like to talk about, are the ones who deliberately starve or take stimulants.
It's not reasonable to slam the appearance of the whole physique. Even if you think it looks weird, a lot of people can't help it.

I actually see plenty of this sort of shit on Facebook, usually in the name of empowerment for 'real women'. People have also made comments to me in person about supposedly being too thin. Nobody bats an eyelid. Though I'm sure they would if I went around calling people fat, which I would never feel the need to do.

As someone who's been berated for being both overweight and underweight, I can say that hating one side and glorifying the other only hurts people. It doesn't serve to "knock some sense into someone" at all.
