Is it normal to think that every post should be approved?

I just feel like the mods here are too fickle with what posts get approved. I know that many are poor quality but I still think every one of them should be approved. I just don't like all the cherry-picking that goes on here. Let people say what they want; no matter how stupid or aggressive. Let the commenters deal with their posts, not the mods.

My reasons for this are:
1) We're all adults here. We can handle this kind of thing.

2) Freedom of Speech. Not approving them all is infringing on that right.

and
3) It's just fairness.

    Oh hell no. Then we would have an overwhelming number of dog sex and incest posts. Not to mention the little boys who artempt to shock the world with ahot eating posts.

    I am all for freedom of speech and sharing thoughts but there has to be a balance , there must be moderation . If we didn't have MODS on here doing this work we would be taken advantage of by the trolls and people who would post unwanted content . The last thing we need is child molesters and racist individuals on here spewing their garbage about subjects that really have no justification or place here . I know I don't need to see pedophiles on here posting about sickening things or racists slandering groups etc. I know some thing's go down that maybe could stay on here but I think the MODS don't always know which are troll posts and which are legit so we can't shame them for this ... they are just doing what they feel is best . I don't know if this even affects you though ? so why do you care? what is it that you would be posting about that would be taken down anyways?

    Freedom of speech is a government right which disallows the government from limiting your speech with a few exceptions. It has nothing to do with a private organization. Is it normal is not required to grant you freedom of speech. It is a forum with rules, the rules are posted. If you disagree with them, email the site and lobby to change them, or go to one of the thousands of online forums that have no rules.

    I am not saying I love every rule or agree with every decision the mods make. But the people who run the site get to decide the rules and how they are enforced. But I find it annoying when people break the rules and then complain that their post got taken down. Especially the people that post the same thing everyday, and act surprised when it gets taken down everyday.

    On the other hand, I wish the deleted posts wouldn't still show up in the Newest Posts list. They cause the worthwhile posts to get buried down the list.

      That really annoys me too: if the mods are going to take the post itself down why not take it off the list at the same time?

    Nothing more annoying than getting interested in a post then seeing it has more comments and clicking on it to get 404, but then I also don't think everything should just be put on the site, like the posts that are just attacking certain users, but I don't think everything should go to upcoming as soon as it's reported because people use it stupidly sometimes

    Or how about they do away with the 'report' option and every post automatically gets sifted by moderation first.

    For that to happen would mean that the moderators would actually have to do their work though =/

    Meh.

    On second thought, leave everything the way it is. Just ban trolls quicker.
