Is it normal to think that football shouldn't be called football?
American "Football" is more about throwing a ball than actually kicking it. Soccer is real foot ball. Instead, they should rename American Football to "Field Handball".

So the basic history goes like this (I will keep it to the highlights).
-English move to US. Soccer is a nickname of a football association.
-They tell us to call it Soccer. We do. The rules aren't set in stone yet. The two versions of football evolve much differently. Neither now resemble the first game much.
-Football, American Football, Aussie Rules, Rugby etc. all evolved from the original game.
-The British still called it soccer even up into the 1970s.
Excuse me, but Australian Rules Football mainly evolved from Marngrook, an indigenous football game played prior to white colonisation
You want to cut off your leg because you believe in your mind you are an amputee.
Football includes a foot and a ball.
In a way so does Rugby, but thats why its called rugby.
Soccer should be a wanking sport for men since it sounds like sock her.
Americans shouldn't concern themselves with the subtle difference when conversing with one another as it's a colloquial term. However, when speaking with someone not raised with our vernacular we should clarify with a simple "American football".
I think it should be called "giant waste of time for steroid-using guys who want brain damage" ball.
sure it should
the other version should hafta write and pronounce it as futbol
I hate calling football soccer, and so I want to say football. But I hate inefficiency more (wasting time in inevitably clarifying to someone that I meant soccer when I said football) so I say soccer. Sigh
I thought I had found a solution by referring to it as footie, but then I wondered if anyone who hadn't heard the word might think I was talking about footjobs.
Just to let you know, there are a few things more important than this for most intelligent people to be concerned about these days.
