Is it normal to think this is punishment and not a reward?
When I was a kid our school once had some poetry writing contest and one of the prizes was you got to have lunch with the principal and vp. I remember my dad reading about it in the school news letter and saying in a proud voice, "I wonder if *I* have a chance to win?" Mom was laughing but I was mortified. He was totally joking but still the thought was uncomfy.
I guess shit like that is fairly common, I mean contests where students compete for the honor to have lunch with the damned principal.
And THEN where I work they used to have contests and the winner would get to have lunch with a manager of their choice. OOOHHH well THAT sounds... stuffy.
Especially though for kids, doesn't it seem like this would be more of a PUNISHMENT than a reward? Like having lunch with the one(s) in charge? My immediate supervisor is a younger "cool" type, younger than me but it would still feel strange.
