Sometimes I will make a sensible comment that is reasonable and answers the question. Then I go to my other computer and thumb down myself to start a debate over the topic and get people arguing.
I don't see how thumbing yourself down would cause a debate. Also, this seems time consuming, but I suppose everyone is entitled to their hobbies.
I just thumbed myself down then and refreshed and I'm still one not zero.
You can thumb yourself up or down if you log into another account with a different IP. When the hell are you gonna understand that?

But that you say different IP implies that this was found out by actually doing/testing it, and there is something inherently sad about that
Hey dude, do you know that hack where you can clone your own name regardless whether your account gets disabled or not? I do, and people usually aren't assholes to people of our particular political affiliation and side of the law here on INN to clone your original account.
