Is it normal to try and justify my friend's father's behavior?

My friends father is a quite an odd guy. My friends father is the type of guy who would put his head in the kitchen sink and suddenly think that he needed to fly over to Canada the approaching Tuesday. He gets way too real with people this guy and it catches everybody off guard like seeing an Italian mans shoes for the first time. I mean seriously when I get down to it, my friends father is like taking a drink of water while watching Frasier on a Saturday.

Is it normal that after the absurdity of it all I still justify my friends father for who he is?

    What in the world does "like taking a drink of water while watching Frasier on a Saturday" mean? And what is wrong with an Italian man's shoes, first time or not?

    I laugh because those are some very descriptive phrases. If you haven't watched frasier you're going to be caught off guard spitting water all over the place. If you've never seen an italian man's shoes then that's just lack of understanding there because if you did you'd be shocked by how stylish they are. "Wow! Oh freaking Wow! That's freaking amazing! I-I-I-I can't believe that's even freaking possible. I LOVE your shoes man. Seriously, where'd you get them? I'm going to buy a pair just like yours right now!"

    Trying to justify someone else's actions? Normal. The reason you do it? Not so much. You just can't understand the man so you're trying to fit him somewhere in your mind into a place where you can say, "Oh he does strange things because....." If you do think that you're completely insulting the guy and being unfair.

    If the guy is strange then stop trying to justify actions YOU CANNOT understand. Accept that it's not logical and you'll live a happier healthier life.
