Is it normal to type more accurately when not looking at the keyboard/screen?

Whether I'm working on an assignment or copying text from a parchment of paper, it seems as though I type faster and more accurately when I'm looking away from the keyboard, especially the screen. I'm a decent typer; not one of those find-and-peck typers. Any spelling errors I make are immediately noted by the intuition of my mind, so spell check is pretty much useless. This habit is excellent for taking away the mental blocks of repeatedly misspelling a word and typing at a slower rate than usual. Is this normal?

  • Wow, that sounds fantastic.

**I'm going to try that and see if it makes andy difference. I can touch type and have a fairly high word per miniute speed, but my accuracy is pretty shoddy. I haven't been looking at my keyboard while tiyping during most of this response, I'm staring at the ceiling to macke sure I dont look. I will leave it just the way I typed it. No editing.**

Doesn't work for me. But it was a lot of fun. :)

Good! If you want to type better, use Mavis Beacon. I used it to learn typing, but I still look at the keyboard... '^'

works for me. I never look at my keyboard when I am typing or trying to create a response such as this.

Hehe find and peck. That describes me pretty well, not just because of my birdness. I'm not a typer. But ya lots of people are like that.

It's normal for people that are accurate, fast typers. Looking at the keys slows me down.
