Is it normal to wake your self up from dreams and realize your in a dream

A few times i have had a nightmare and as something bad is about to happen i would say "this is a dream, wake up, wake up" or "pinch yourself its a dream" and have woken up. Ive heard of lucid dreaming but everyone says its people who practice it all the time and are very spiritual. Is it normal?

I experience whats called Sleep Paralysis alot and supposedly its the best way to enter lucid dreaming the key is to not fight it and let yourself succumb to it by relaxing. If you fight it you'll enter a panic state trying to snap out of it and you'll hallucinate weird things and be in a state of terror night mares and fear.

It's normal to wake yourself up from an unpleasant dream, lucid dreaming is realising it's a dream and then stay in the dream.
I've had lucid dreaming, and I've never really intentionally made it happen and I'm not spiritual, but I can't fully control my dream. I realise I'm in a dream and I then choose where to go and what to do, but my mind has limits, such as if I try to fly I'll end up falling.

It is normal to have lucid dreams and wake up from them.
I have known people who control the incidents during their dreams. It requires practice. There is an article in wiki how which shows how to lucid dream or control your dreams.
