Is it normal to want to be a private investigator

My current work requires alot of investigative work. I love the investigating, but not so much the subject areas I have to investigate. So, I've been thinking about making a career change to being a freelance Private Investigator.

Where I live, I can get a PI license with only a few weeks intensive training and a few other requirements I already pass. And I have a few bucks in the bank to buy some gear and support myself until I start making some money at it.

What would you think of being a PI? What kinds of cases would interest you?

A good buddy is a PI. He spends mucha his time sittin in suburban streets in his vehicle with darkened windows with a telephoto lens and discarded hamburger packaging.

He does all kinda stuff, from spying on cheating partners to filming people who claimed insurance money cos they said they couldn't work due to injury. I think it'd be a good job and pays well (about $50/hr). I went with him on a job once, it was cool.

When I was younger I use to think Magnum PI was Magnum 3.14... I thought he solved math problems.
