Is it normal to wear the same underwear for a month?

I always found this site intriguing

So, I was googling and decided I'd sign up here.

Basically probably all of my teenagehood and preteenagehood and maybe even just before, I've never changed my underwear regularly. Like now I've been wearing the same bra for a few weeks, before that I was wearing the same bra for over a month. Pant wise. Probably about the same time.

Obviously this is dirty asf. I know. I'm surprised I've never had a UI or STI. I get the odd cyst down there but as expected. I know this luck won't last forever.

But I'm wondering how common it is.

I know it's more common for guys to change their underwear less frequently than women and I know I'm part of a weird group here.

I also don't really shower or do any of that regularly either. A few times a month probably.

I know by posting this I'll get criticism and frankly, I've realized sometimes it's a way of self harm for me. It's better to accept who I am as a ugly trampy loner.

Im always really sad about my appearance and so much is wrong I just think f it. Even if I sort out one thing it's not enough to look even decent.

I'm always researching, tryna put a plan in place, like now, I made all of my hair fall out a few weeks back so I'm gonna try vitamins and washing my hair properly and the right products, I have acne scars on my body and I've ordered a few oils and I wanna start washing everyday and I've went out and bought some new clean underwear. I'm determined to have at least 7 sets of underwear and 7 outfits, several bed sheets and covers etc so even if I don't wash everyday I'm not rolling around in what is effectively my own growing filth.

Aware I rambled, don't know why. Anyway. Hoping to get some responses so I'm more motivated to change.

Sounds like you're struggling with depression.

When I think about my life and when I wrote this post I totally thought that. But the annoying thing is I've been in hospital for assessment because people thought I was depressed (even though at the time I didn't even have the symptoms, I was going great actually, it was just social services trying to get rid of my so they didn't have to look after me) and the doctors said I don't have depression. And although now I have symptoms like I'm sad a lot and my self esteem does suck and my motivation is virtually invisible I always think "I'm not depressed I just have a sht life". It's the tiniest things that could change this all for me but unfortunately I am unfortunate enough not to have what most people have and I'm only 18.

It's annoying because I've been to the doctors so many times and a & e to get help and to another mental health hospital just in case someone can help or point me in the right direction for the right services but I've been turned away Everytime.

So when you take a shower, do you put the dirty ones back on? If you take a shower it's no more trouble to put on clean ones than it is to put on your dirty ones. I'm assuming you don't sleep in a bra, so it is no more trouble to wake up and put on a clean bra than it is to put on a dirty one. See what I'm getting at?

Good on you for trying to change though! Depression and low self esteem often causes people to not take care of their hygiene...and then of course having poor hygiene makes you depressed, and you can see it's a vicious cycle.

Try to make it your new hobby, something you can enjoy! Buy some special body wash or shampoo, underware that makes you feel sexy, etc.

And work on your confidence. Spend a few minutes each day looking in the mirror and complimenting yourself. Do things with your time that give back to others and make you feel proud...this can do wonders for self esteem.

Is there something you'd like to reward yourself with, like maybe a video game, a good book, a trip to the movies? Every time you change your underwear, or your sheets, or brush your teeth, etc...put a quarter in a jar. Once you have enough quarters, buy your reward. This is a good method to making new habits.

    Good luck!

You're right it's no trouble to put on clean underwear after a shower. I do that. Trouble is I don't really shower often.

And I do sleep in a bra. I've considered not wearing one at all but it's so uncomfortable for me.

I just downloaded this app called productivity. Made a lot of goals. Even the small ones should help with motivating me to have a more normal life.

I really like your ideas, I'll definitely try them, thank you!

As long as people aren't able to smell you as you walk past them, then they are clean enough.
