Is it normal to yell at fellow pasengers on the plane for not letting you out?

After landing, it is common courtesy for the people in the aisle seats to stand up and take their luggage down or at least hold the place in line for the row.

Well I was in the window seat and the two morons next to me just sat there while everyone else was getting off the plane. I was already standing up making it clear I wanted to leave. I finally asked "Can I get out please? I have a connecting flight." in a forceful tone. It scared them and they got up in a hurry. Is it normal to get angry in this situation?

That was normal. Some people think they are the only ones in the world and others don't matter.

I have seen this happen on multiple occasions.

And, yes, people are so thoughtless. I agree, you should be calm and patient, let people know, as much of an "inconvenience" is it may be, you need to get off the plane.

Usually, it is OLD people who just sit there, don't want to deal with "the crowd" getting off the plane. But, you'd think they'd look to you and ask "do you need to get out right away?" and have switched seats with you before landing.

They should make an announcement, early in the flight, telling people, if you are on the isle, and don't plan to exit the plane when it lands, to let the people inside get out so they can catch their connecting flights.

I also can't stand the people who do get up, don't let you exit, and then, the people in the rows behind you don't give you a break to get out either. It is like, WTF? Again, thoughtless, rude people.

It's usually impossible to get out anyway, because so many people from the back cram into the aisles that there is no space to even stand, let alone get overhead bags down. I almost always choosing the window seat pprecisely so I don't have to deal with the crush, or be worried about holding someone else up

If I am on the aisle, I always ask if the person next to me is in a rush and wants me to move out of their way at the earliest possible time.

You didn't have a reason to be a dick about it. Excusing yourself politely would have done the trick.

It depends on what was going on. Were people actually walking off the plane and the line was moving past your row, or was everyone just standing there waiting? I used to fly a lot and I stopped getting right up because I found it wasn't helpful at all.

When they turn off the seat belt sign, everyone jumps up, and then they just stand their waiting for the doors to open and for them to allow passengers to exit. This can take 5 or 10 minutes, especially if you are not in first class (and you weren't because you say there was an isle and center seat in front of you) because first class is normally in front of the door, and everyone else is behind it. So they them off load before the rest of the plane.

So well all that is happening, I would just sit and wait cause it was just easier and more comfortable. Once the line starts moving, I take the one step into the isle and grab my bag, which takes one second caue everything is now open and the other bags have been cleared out of the way. I then walk off the plane at the exact same time I would have gotten off if I had been standing the whole time.

There isn't even enough room for everyone in the row to stand in the actual isle. So everyone behind naturally let's the people in front step out when the line starts moving anyway. I always thought the impatient people who rush out of their seats just to stand were crazy. If you are in row 20, you will get to the exit when everyone in row 20 does, If you are in row 30 you will get there which row 30 and so fourth. I know a lot of people hate to not be in control, but there is nothing you can do that will get you off a plane any faster plusnor minus maybe 30 seconds.

    • In my case the rows behind us were walking past us. The people in my row were just sitting there not moving.

If you don't stand up right away, people push their way past you. No one waits. You end up being the last one to get off the plane.

Never one where the difference between being the first in coach to deplane and the last, made me miss a connection. However, with many hundreds of flights in my past, I'm sure I've got nowhere the experience you do.
