Its actually pretty funny, especially on reddit whenever i see someone claiming to be a women while writing about stereotypically male interests i check their profile and 90% of the time it's a trans woman.

I was on a reddit post the other day where this woman was complaining about a guy hitting on her, while nerding out about world of warcraft or something and clearly baiting the man to continue by flaunting that she's a woman. normally when a woman is creeped out thats the complete opposite of what she would do unless shes an idiot (whereas trans women love it because it validates their gender).

people were calling her out on that so i looked at the profile and it was in fact a trans woman. I posted a comment along the lines "I could tell OP was born a man by how they were acting" and got IP banned from reddit within literally 5 minutes for "hate speech".

so my question is if these people don't believe masculinity and femininity exists then why do they even need to be trans? if they just want to wear womens fashion and go by she while still being a man that is called transvestism not transgender.

I don’t like the way you phrased this post, nor do I like what you said to the transgendered woman on Reddit. I think you were acting out in mean spirit and trying to upset people. You’re being rude

Masculinity and femininity is what you identified - stereotypes. Stereotypes that have changed, flip flopped, and disappeared and reappeared based on location culture and time period.

Asking an individual to drop an interest in order to appear “more womanly” is sexist and submits you to societies stereotyping ways.

In the same breath I will say, there are times where transgendered people are asked the question “What makes you this gender” and they begin to list off gender stereotypes. I think this is harmful, I believe some transgendered folk have a lot of internal misogyny or sexism.
I don’t have a suggestion on how to fix this, I have no idea how to handle it.

But I believe in treating people politely, I am aware of gender being a complex thing for some individuals, I am aware of the emotional damage many transgendered people go through, and I am very aware of the discrimination and violence brought to transgendered people.
You should try to be more kind to fellow humans.

  i guess the main issue i take with these types are they are trying to redefine what it is to be female to shut down the discussion that women from birth have a different experience than men. it's like a whole other branch of anti-feminism. they want people to think that women are as perverted or aggressive as men which statistically isn't true. they talk about how they like being sexually harrassed because it validates their gender. or you will see a woman ped0, rapist, mass shooter or whatever in the news and everyone like "SEE? WOMEN DO IT TOO!!" then it turns out to be a trans woman and no one can say shit about that.

  Well said we'll said. A simple awnser to that question is thus. Living as a man I was always miserable. Living as a woman I'm very happy. Such an awesome usually gets asked for more details at wich point these days I personally stop responding to the person as 9tines out of ten that want every insignificant detail of my life to analyze just so in the end they can say something transphobic.

Yep and same with trans men. I've never actually came across women as feminine as those who CLAIM to be men... They type like women and uses cutsey emoticons, they post cute posed selfies, often still wear makeup, and obsess over fashion trends. You could argue these people were raised as their biological gender and that affects them, but there are straight cis men who have very feminine traits as well as straight cis women who have very masculine traits. So I dont think that has much to do with it. They're just bullshitting and wants to feel special, and probably suffers from body image issues. This is just a trend like emo etc back in the day, as well as the effects of shitty mental healthcare.

Please realize that online trans people are different from real trans people. Not only is it easy to just type out that you're 'actually a woman', trans people irl are usually way more nuanced and have an unique personality (most of the time). Trans redditors are exactly what you expect of them. Don't take them too seriously

  Exactly, I have met a lot of transgender people irl and I have had a couple close friends who are trans, and almost none of them act anything like the typical redditor. I think it has more to do with reddit itself, because sites like reddit, 4chan and similar sites tend to attract the worst kinds of people in general.

I'm not a fan of the "traditional hobbies" ideology. It's fairly restrictive and is often incorrect. Women can like videos games, sports, or mechanics just as men can like art, knitting, and fashion. This is more so found amongst the 30 and under crowd.

With that being said, it does make sense that you've noticed it. A lot of those people are going to be raised by fairly traditional parents. There are also going to be a lot of people pretending to be trans for...less than ideal purposes. I would be suprised if even 10% of people claiming to be trans actually feel that way. The term "transtrender" comes to mind.

  It’s not just about the masculine hobbies, it’s a combination of that plus in my example the way they baited a man to “harass” them. If it was a girl just geeking out I may raise an eyebrow and picture a nerdy or possibly autistic female. But clues start to add up especially the sexual ones. Being an authoritative Reddit mod is also a pretty good indicator funny enough

I guess it makes sense that if they were raised as a male for so many years, then they would've picked up traditionally male hobbies. So it's not like they'd want to just give up all those hobbies after realising that they're a woman, they shouldn't have to either.

    Well it depends what the hobbies are, but I'd say a lot of the traditionally male hobbies aren't taken up mostly by men because you need a male brain to enjoy them, anyone can enjoy them, but just because more men than women have have been exposed to them and been encouraged to do them. Like World of Warcraft for example.
