Is it normal we kill pets that suffer but we don't kill suffering humans?

I really don't get people who take their pets to the vet so they can euthanize/kill them because of old age or illness.

You may argue that the animal is in pain. True, but then why don't we kill elderly people who are in pain or euthanize people with cancer?

I won't be taking my pets to be slaughtered anytime soon just because they might be a bit old or have an illness that can be easily cured by surgery. Of course getting surgery for your "beloved" pet is just too much of a bother, killing 'em off is a much easier solution.

"Whats that? Spot's beginning to show signs of old age? Off to be killed he goes!"

After all, you could just get another Spot after dumping the old Spot in a bin :)

I love you or the idea you have. I think the same way my dog bit at some one once and they hit my dog and told me that I need to put it down. Low and behold a few weeks later there human child bit me on my face so I smaked it and told them to kill the thing :D the thing being a human girl child. Unfortunately you cant hit a child and tell there parents to kill it (the psrents of said human were my friends at one point) so now I have to make a ply in court to prove I am inecent :(

Humans aren't as fragile as animals. Humans can think for themselves and act upon it while animals cannot. Although I agree humans should be able to be euthanized, I don't think there's a need for it, that's why suicide exists.

Euthanization is only used when the situation is dire, not to save money. In many cases the pet is too old to survive surgery as it would put a huge strain on their body, and leaving a pet to die from pain and suffering is the worst thing an owner could do when their pet's life is going to inevitably end very soon.

A lot of thought and consideration goes into euthanizing a pet from both the owner and vet, so don't just assume owners kill their pets on a whim.

I have always thought the same thing. There should be a program for terminally ill patients so that they can stop suffering. If I ever started suffering when I am old or terminally ill, I have already decided that I will commit suicide.

I think people should have the option to get a painless death by pills or something if they are in a lot of pain due to a terminal disease. Many people would choose painless death over long, drawn out painful death.

They do in Californication. Just passed the "death with dignity" law.
