you don't have to be scared of rats, most domestic rats are very friendly and have a dog like personality. of course you have to be careful around the wild rats as they can carry harmful diseases and are capable of biting.

maybe to get over your fear see if you can go to a local pet store and if they have any pet rats you can be around them and when you feel comfortable maybe ask if you could hold/touch one? also if you have any friends with pet rats you could do that too

Oh dear, that's not very nice. I would be afraid too, if rats fell on my head. Or if the eighties hairmetal band ratt got in my head.
Once a spider crawled up my arm and now in that same place, I am a very ascared that there will be arm spiders again.
It's good to be cautious, but don't be too afraid.

I'm in physical pain from trying to read this post, but from what I have deciphered:

You have a fear of rats because one fell on you when you stepped outside of your home. But now sometime later after moving into a new house; which is not infested with diseased rodents, you still have a fear of them.

    This is just a guess...

Yes it's normal to be afraid of them.
