Is it normal when a dog fakes a limp to get sympathy from people?

I've known a couple of dogs that will do this. Once they get some attention and pity out of you, they will go happily trotting away, with no further sign of any "limp."

Dog's learn what attention get them attention and repeat those actions. Though I have never observed what you are taking about specifically, it is consistent with normal dog behavior.

Not normal....if a dog is I'll it will usually retreat somewhere out of sight because if a dog is ill in a pack he shows weakness and the rest of the back may kill him

If I'd see a dog doing this, I would kick him really hard to make him limp for real. That will teach the bastard a lesson.

The owners of those dogs don't give them enough affection.
