Im addicted to fanfiction?

When I was 13, my parents got a divorce, and my mom took me and my sister to live half time with our grandparents. I was put in the computer room, so obviously, I used the computer quite a bit. I came across some Harry Potter OC fanfiction, and I guess it was nice that I could get lost so,in this made up world where my life didnt suck. Things got better, and now at 19 years old, Ive moved from Harry Potter, to Supernatural and Supernatural RPS. Im now reading fanfiction all the time, staying up until the early hours of the morning reading it. I will think about the recent SPN episodes driving my way to school and think of how they can be turned into fanfiction, and sometimes even drift off in class. Is this normal, or just a phase? If not, how can I minimize my fanfiction reading time so I can start to get a handle on this?

i loved fanfiction, it seems like a nice little mind vacation so i started reading ALL the time, waitig eagerly for updates. but than my computer died and i was forced to go without my obsession for some time and eventually i started caring less and not thinking about it so much. so now i havent read it in a while and i have internet now, it seems like i was forced to deal with reality than it became more interesting to do other things than sit there reading and alas i am cured. picking working out or cleaning, cuz really its like a drug as dramatic as it sounds lol you get so caught up in fantasy that you forget that there is a world outside of the computer :) .. but normal!!

drugs are really the best way to describe it lol. the longest i went without was when i had a week of vacation at myrtle beach. then when i got back, i didn't read it as much. then i started getting the updates, and i ended up right back where i started lol. id take away my internet but i got school stuff to do on it as well

It sounds like you are very aware of your obsession. I see nothing wrong with it, but if you feel like it is becoming a problem then maybe you should start moderating your time with it.
