In my state we still paddle kids in schools. We have a different outlook on it. I would argue where I live young people are much more respectful and polite. It seems the liberal areas (the places where they dont spank kids) has the most young people running being entitled.

I doubt it tbh. Science has been perverted, and it's been a long time since proper corporal punishment has been in effect in the West. I know I could have done with a good slap when I was younger, and when the cane was banned in the UK most teachers protested, so they thought it was useful, and kids were certainly better behaved back then.

Also, and I don't mean to argue in bad faith with this, but I've researched the subject a little and I know there are peer reviewed papers that say it works under certain circumstances, so the science game isn't really the one to play in this case since both sides can use it for their own means.

I wouldn't see it as anyway wrong if you told him he'll have to go if he continues. Maybe there's some disciplinary school you could send him to or something. You can't let him continue this anyway. Not only is it unhealthy for you and your wife, it's not good for him.

Make him real scared of upsetting you. Next time he upsets you, start yelling at him about what a retard he is then you should break down in tears infront of him and make him feel real bad tell him that you don't want to live anymore etc, just have a mental breakdown. Then you simply stop acknowleding his existance for a day or two. Treat him like air. You can take some of his stuff too and hide it but act nonchalant when he asks about them and say that you have no idea what he's talking about, let him get pissed but stay ignoring him because that will drive him nuts. Keep this up over time but start making him feel bad over small things too occasionally. Make him scared eventually of criticizing anything you do ever so that instead he begins overcritizing himself and feeling like a bad person, so he always tries to overachieve. Trust me, this is effective! You should go especially heavy on the treating him like air whenever you feel upset or annoyed because he has expressed a negative emotion. I'm sorry to inform you if these neat little psychological tricks doesn't work he has no sense of empathy. That's unfortunate. Your son doesnt respect you because you're a little shit who doesn't fight back. My mom wouldve beat my ass if I said only 1 insulting thing to or about anything she has done, and we have a great relationship. I have learned many nice things that I can use on people and people in my life generally makes sure to not upset me, just sayin'.
