Im worried about the protests

The 50s, 60s have been about demanding equal rights to the blacks (at that time many white territories had no entry for blacks, and if black people violated that just by going to the areas they would be shot and those responsible unpunished, black people having to give up their paid bus seats for whites and so on), in the 1965 Watts Riots protesting police brutality on the blacks 34 died, MLK sacrificed himself to bring about equality being assassinated in 68, people were angry. the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Act of 1968 prohibited open discrimination yet it continued and black people being brutalized by white police remained a norm. Take Arthur McDuffie's murder in 1979, The Rodney King incident 1991-92, these have led protests, even this year a black nurse Breonna Taylor was shot dead at her home. And these are just some of 100s of cases.

However George Floyd's murder (a cop using his knees to sit on his neck chocking him and three other cops just standing by in amusement, the crowd begging them to let go of Floyd who wasn't even resisting but just saying i can't breath, barbaric!) has triggered movement not seen since the 60s. Yes the looting and arson attacks can't be justified yet the anger understandable. But amids all the darkness there is a positive side, more white people are protesting along side their black brothers and sisters ever before. Lets just hope the 2020 protests finally open the eyes of people and white police brutality particularly on the black community stops for good and the future generation totally wipes out racism.

Even if they attacked buildings controlled by the state, they still wouldn't achieve anything besides getting the government to have the army converge on their location.

exactly my thoughts. one of my brothers is for the riots and is in LA right now he says that its for a good reason that it will make the government listen.

I think it will just make things worse and the government double down and side with the cops 100 percent. I was for the mass protests kinda and I am all for being loud hell I am not against cops being yelled at insulted because they keep letting this happen all the time.

cops are clearly human humans have flaws and people need to stop acting like cops are so pure. but the rioting is not the answer.

When I first saw the video apart of me wanted to go to protest but that was before the riots started happening and even then like I said in the post the virus is still going on. I didn't take the virus seriously before but after seeing numbers of deaths and infected the fact we are number 1 in the world of the pandemic made me see that people should be a bit more cautious. my hometown san Bernardino had a spike in cases. im for things opening back up but we need to follow the examples of other countries that are opening up and being smart about it. I don't get why people are so quick to act stupid before reason I know that a lot of people feel ignored or that their complaints are treated like a joke because people think that

"we are in America so no problems exist maybe its the ones who are complaining that are the problem"

I also worry that things will only get stricter which will lead to more cases like floyds even if he committed forgery he didn't deserve to have a knee in his neck. but because of the riots i have been seeing more and more bootlickers taking the side of the cops completely forgetting that this system basically lead to this mess. I blame the rioters just as much and they need to stop or be stopped because they are ruining what little advantage they had. hell I am even seeing people claim that this means the virus is not real so we should all go back to normal or even crazier that floyds death was staged.

True, I support the protests, after years of discrimination and police brutality its justifiable. But sinking to the level of violence is disgraceful. Even Floyd's family is asking the protesters to stop violence. To be honest most protesters are peaceful, a group of anarchists have taken advantage of the protests to carry looting and arson attacks. They need to be identified and taught that they are not above the law.

that's what I've been trying to tell people that I know who went to and are at the LA area. I live in the inland empire there are protests but thankfully around here they aren't rioting I want it to stay that way.

Ironically white people are causing just as much if not more violence than black people. They just get the blame.

- Riot takes place. Buildings burning, businesses looted, people hurt. Projectiles thrown at responding law enforcers.

This is just an excuse for them to loot. In every county in the entire world where there's enough of another ethnic group to garner statistics, the violent crime rate for blacks is incredibly, disproportionately high.
I am black and I don't have violent urges or commit crimes. should I be punished for what others do should my friends and families be punished for what others do? by your logic all whiles should be held responsible when racist white assholes act up or dose something fucked up. blacks like me are aware of the problems in our community and want it fixed im sick of assholes like you acting like we are ok with it.

yes its a issue which is why something needs to be done(not rioting)cases like this should get attention regardless of the race of the victim.

Of course there are some bad eggs in the police force. who should me dealt with the full force of the law, but the statistics for inter-racial violence are hard against blacks.
