Important question (religious based)

Is it normal to think religious people are less intelligent because no matter how academically proficient they may be, they still believe in a deity?

Most commonly one from an Abrahamic religion; which is violent, sexist, racist, and has a fetish for genocide. (Christianity, Judaism, Islam)

Well, since we are generalizing here, the same could be said about non religious people. A person has to be pretty cocked up in the head to be smoking meth and snorting Cocaine.

If you assume that all religious people are less intelligent than non religious people, and I assume that non religious people are more prone to smoking crystal meth... how can the meth head be more intelligent than the religious person in this scenario?

Also, it does not make you more (or less) intelligent if you choose to believe in deities. That's not how intelligence is defined.

So nothing correlates with anything and neither should it.

        • because statistics show most drug users identify with a religion. I guess you believe in a deity which would explain your vacuous analogy.

Are you an aethist because I find that aethists tend to say this the most becuz they have no idea what they're saying really. Before assuming why don't you actually ask multiple people for once perhaps even a religious person
on their thoughts *cough cough*. Not saying you're dumb or anything but please don't assume like that.

Religious people do not think logically. If they did they would not blindly believe the crap they do.

Believing in a god is no more far fetched than believing there was absolutely nothing and some how it all went bang and then fucking massive planets and stars appeared everywhere.

Just how was it validated as a fact?

Did someone witness it? Has anyone replicated it?

No, we just have some very "smart" people saying this is the most probable reason.

Here we have another scientifically illiterate bible thumper! Please do some research, it's been long we didn't need to witness an event to know it has happened...

Lets all take a moment to recognize that this anonymous poll creator (who is too chicken to keep replying with his actual username) just created this poll to stir up people on the internet and to get attention to try to fill the hole in his life that only a deity could fill. Even if you don't believe in what I believe, at least you're not stupdi enough to believe in no deity.

You are in denial of your own needs, your own identity, and your own lack of perceptiveness. You need a stiff wet god damn cock up your ass to awaken your feeble mind.

Sprinkle holy water on a slippery dildo, slide it up your butt and go watch Beavis & Butthead.

  • Well, statistically, religious people *are* less intelligent, so I think it's normal.

some of the most intelligent people in the world have been religious, there are plenty of Christian scientists.

And besides one of the fundamental rules of science is that science can only measure the natural world, not the supernatural. So no matter how much science advances it could never prove or disprove the existence of a deity anyways.

It's not up to science to prove god doesn't exist. It's up to religious people to prove he does exist.

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • that's not true. nearly every major scientific discovery is from an atheist and or a deist. Most nobel winners in science are also atheist. try again.

In fact, everything science provides shows that the probability of a deity being real is less likely than you being able to skinny dip in an active volcano and come out alive and unharmed. Key word is probability.

For a religious person to be a scientist, they have to flatly disregard most of what is in their holy text. You cannot call yourself a scientist if you believe in creationism, Jesus' miracles or that Muhammad flew to heaven on a winged horse, I'm sorry.

There might be scientists who believe in God, but no respectable scientist treats the holy texts like they are scientifically validated fact.
