Inn that my mom is a compulsive liar????

My mom is 58yo & cannot tell the truth to save her life. Even when caught out lying & presented with the truth she'll STILL lie. She'll even lie about lying lol. I believe she has some kind of mental illness & can't understand WHY she does it. Take today for eg... I asked her if she'd fed the cats & given them fresh water. She said she had & swore on the bible she fed them but in truth i saw my dad do it earlier. Why the F*** she doing this. Another eg. There was a slice of cake left o the counter for me. When i went in the kitchen it had gone. I then asked my mom "mom have you eaten my cake" she had crumbs on her skirt with jam & cream around her mouth & a plate with cake crumbs cream jam etc on. She blatent sat there & denied touching the cake even when my younger brother presented her with a photo he took on his phone of her stuffing the cake in her mouth. She sat there lied lied & lied then claimed the picture was photo shopped & 1 of us had doctored it to make it seem she was eating the cake. She is mentally ill & will not tell the truth WHY THE F*** IS SHE DOING THIS??? MORE IMPORTANT IS IT NORMAL?????

    Your lucky,..I'm a 23 yr old man but my mother still insists on checking my grooming.E.g the other day in town my tie had come a bit loose so instead of pointing this out so i can fix it she tried to do it herself.Ofcourse i quickly diffused the situation after which i gave her a proper scolding(for the upteenth time)...to which she replied that she will always be my mother no matter how old i am.(for the upteenth time)

    People of all ages lie. At least you have learned that you can tell if someone is lying, without them admitting it. I had an ex-gf that lied to her kids often. They didn't have a shred of respect for her after they started figuring it out. And guess why I broke up with her.........yeah, she started lying to me.

    Yeah... Maybe she is getting oldtimers disease. Alzheimer's. She isn't THAT old. But some people get it earlier than others. How is her cognitive ability? Is she still comprehending and communicating normally? No memory lapses that you notice? If not, she's just probably a compulsive liar. You should have an intervention. Those are always TONS of fun

    You say she is mentally ill, the proof being that she lies all the time and then ask why she lies?
