Instead of abolishing college debt

I think instead of abolishing college debt or medicare for all the US government should take the money it would use to do that and put it all towards cancer research. And figure out how to cure cancer once and for all. Imagine if they put 1 trillion down towards this. They could put up rewards for research like whichever science team can show they have figured out how to slow down or shrink tumors gets rewarded with 1 billion dollars.

I actually think democrats and republicans would get behind this. Take one of those stimulus inflation handouts and put it towards cancer research.

It’s a hell of a lot easier to develop a cure for cancer if you’re able to get an education that helps learn how to develop a cure, or if you’re able to devote all your time to developing a cure after you get the education. And it’s a hell of a lot easier to develop a cure for cancer if you’re healthy and able to stay that way.

Cancer research is done by people. People who have student debt and need healthcare.

    • Canceling student debt would be way over a trillion. Some liberal website says it would be 1.6 trillion to forgive student loan debt. I would be surprised if it didnt cost far more than that. 1.6 is a shit ton of money that would be better used going to cancer research.

there is no money for anyone if they cure cancer, I personally believe they have cures for some cancer, but will not release them as then their research money would end, and so will a lot of their jobs. not to make a cure is job security, Its all about the money not your health

Cut back military spending by 50% and the US will be heaven on Earth!

Before you downvote me and yell 'Murica, really think about it for a bit... my comment does make sense.

    • Military spending is only 15% of the budget

There will never be a cure for cancer or any other debilitating deadly disease. There isn't any money in a cure. The money is in research and developing treatments that keep you (or little Susie) alive longer so you can pay for more treatments. The medical industry learned their lesson with the polio vaccine. How many iron lungs did they sell last year? Since that "money" you talk about is actually our money, stolen in the name of taxation, just give it back to the people paying it in the first place to save for themselves.

But the thing is if you were the one who found a cure you could put a patent on that bitch and charge whatever the hell you wanted.

The big pharmaceutical companies would unleash their political lobbyist on you and the government would force you from being able to do anything with it. Patent or not. And there is no guarantee that the big pharmaceutical companies wouldn't claim that they had the cure all along and and you stole it from them. There is way too much money in this for them to let a single person upset their money cart. Hillary might invite you to lunch and you would just wind up committing suicide.

Better than getting rid of college debt, just fix/cap university professor salaries.

4 year maximum tuition $40000 10000 a year. You can make that and pay it back in a reasonable amount of time after graduation.

Or better yet a cap on tuition based on what 80% of your graduates make, and the school has to eat what ever a person has not paid after 10 years. Maybe the schools would be interested in making sure their students succeed.

If you think both parties could get behind it you don't understand your system of government.

They may both give it lip service and both get behind big money being invested in the research, I mean who is outwardly or publicly going to say no!

However, there is too much money in the treatment, research, and pharmaceutical side of things to find a cure.

If a cure is found it will come from a small country like Sweden someplace that has less to lose by publicizing a cure.

I use to think that as well even thought they had a cure until john mccain got diagnosed with brain cancer and died shortly thereafter. If anyone would have access to a cure it would be that corrupt bastard. He's part of the elites club a shill for corporations and pharmaceutical companies. You wouldnt see billionaires and top level politicians dying from cancer if they had a cure.

Curing cancer sounds good. Cancer sucks.

I firmly believe that if drug companies wanted to cure cancer, we would have had a cure for the most common forms of cancer by now. It was never about the cure, once they figured out they make more money off of keeping people forever sick but stable
