You can also put your knees towards your chest and rest them on a chair while you lay on your back on the mat. I use to sleep like that. It relieves alot of pressure of your sciatic nerve.
I've always wanted an inversion table, but I feel like I shouldn't use one, because of my high blood pressure.
Inversion tables are for people who actually need to streach their spine. There is also a more compact spine stretcher that you kneel into the pulls on your armpits and your waist (I own 2 of them).
Point is that if you actually need to streach your spine more than just simple leg and waist movements-exercises/stretches... then there is no substitute for having either the compact machine you kneel into or an inversion table.
You are blessed that you don't actually need either of those machines.
