Is 98.9 oral temp normal for me?

My normal temp ranges between late 96's and early 97s. I'm feeling a little sick and warner than normal so I took my temperature orally and it came back as 98.9 F.

I've always had a lower than 98.6 temperature.

Mine is normally 96.8° full 1.8° cooler than normal. I would only hit 98.9° if I had a mild fever.

98.6 was the hospital average in the year 1900 when mercury thermometers were not calibrated. you have a fever. the last person that knows this is a nurse.

Lol...I like how you specified that you took your temperature orally..so does this, mean people still check it rectally? 98.9 degree f is still in normal range. I think you are worrying for nothing.

    • There's orally, rectally, under the armpit and in your ear.

Temperatures vary within people. Just because 98.6 - 98.9 F is said to be the normal range, do keep in mind that normal is little to nonexistent nowadays.

So, while 98.9 F may be and feel normal to you. There are people all over the world that state that their natural body temperatures are actually lower or higher than 98.6.

If our brains are different – our DNA too, then it is not crazy to believe that body temperatures vary too.
