Is 275 pounds 5'5 obese?

My friend is arguing with me that 275 pounds at 5'5 is not obese. There's a female model on Instagram she follows she openly say she's 275 pounds and proud and she's 5'5

To me 275 pounds is morbidly obese yet my friend is saying that's just overweight not yet obese. My friend is on the heavier side so I'm wondering if she doesn't view 275 as obese because she's only a little less than that maybe she's 230ish

What do you think? Is 275 pounds / (125kilograms) at 5'5 obese?

That’s very close to my height and weight. I’m obviously obese. Your friend is probably aware that 5 foot 5 and 275 is obese, she’s just insecure about her weight and thinks that saying somebody is fat is automatically an insult even though a lot of the times it’s just the truth.

I'm 263lb's (last I checked) at 6ft2-3 & i'm obese so yes. Then again being obese means you weigh too much for your height, it doesn't automatically mean you're out of shape. For example most football line backers, strong man competitors & bodybuilders are technically obese but are they in shape? Hell yes.

  Same. Been hovering around 210-220. Even with my horrendous diet. I dont get how to consume enough calories to even pull that off. And my metabolism is slow.

Definitely obese. 5'5" typical healthy range is between 114-149lb. Being obese or fat isn't healthy. Taking care of your body and making healthy & sustainable choices for yourself is attractive.

    Can't tell if this is sarcastic since it's just text. If not then it just sounds like you lack discipline for your own actions. I can also easily gain weight but I actually care about my body. I workout and try my best to eat in a healthy yet sustainable matter. I actually want to help people lose fat for a more active and healthy life instead of having low energy with more health complications.

45lbs isn't a "little less," but both those weights are obese. I used to be 252lbs at 5'8 and I was definitely obese.
