Is being vegan normal?

Several weeks ago, I had the Venison sandwich at Arby's. It was very good. After that, I started thinking about how normalized it is for our species to eat animal meat regularly. I made a jump to try to go vegan overnight pretty much on a whim. I've transitioned to unsweetened almondmilk over regular milk, eat nuts, organic peanut butter, etc. I guess to get to the point...which life is really right? Is veganism actually normal?

    Completely normal!
A lot of my friends are vegan and are way healthier than the average omnivore ..
Going vegan is actually a really good thing, so long as you don't turn into one of those stuck up 'I'm vegan so I'm better than you and everybody should follow my lead' vegans ;)

If your body can handle it, I think it's normal. Just don't think of yourself as better than meat eaters. The fact is, eating animals isn't wrong or right. The way they're treated in factories is the problem, and going vegan doesn't change anything for those animals.

Parlamentarist monarchy is pretty normal by current Western standards.

No it isn't normal to be vegan. You can tell that by the type of teeth you have. They are designed to eat meat and vegetables. If you were supposed to be vegan, you would have teeth like a cow.

You must eat meat to have a complete diet. It is not normal and you must cease and desist immediately!

I know Frank. He's a vegan and there's nothing normal about him. So I'd say no. On the other hand, Joe is an oddball too and I once saw him eating a meatball sandwich. So who's to say?

Yes, it is normal, but I think it's risky; the diet is too restrictive. I tried once, and my body never recovered. I'm fragile, however, while others adapt way better. In my experience, though, most don't. Many (like me) end up suffering from more serious health problems thanks in part to it, and, in terms of health in general, the meta-analyses are not supportive. I would recommend finding a middle term, like eliminating red meat, or red meat and birds, or meat from the phylum Chordata, or all meat but not eggs and milk.

So he should go eat worms, right? That's a tough sell unless he's a kook.

Ever heard of squid? Whelk? Octopus? Shrimps? Abalone? Lobsters? Winkles? Clam? Oysters? Crayfish? Escargot? Crabs? Prawn? Cuttlefish? Scallops? Mussels? Limpets? Conchs? Cockles? Maybe you should know what you are writing about before you post. Annelids and insects are generally consumed only locally in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and the Americas, but crustaceans and molluscs are common in cuisine in most of the world. If they are uncommon or expensive in his area, he could move to a coastal region when possible, where seafood is generally very easy to get, and very rich in crustaceans and moluscs.

"Nobody loves me, everybody hates me, guess I'll go eat worms. Long skinny slimey ones ..."

Regretfully, I am sorry to inform you that your idea just isn't something worth singing about. While you may enjoy eating your lobster, at least your lobster enjoyed eating worms. Giving credit where credit is due, lowly worms shall inherit the earth.

What a retarded question, you might instead just as well ask us our input on veganism, not if it's normal or not, of course it's normal, not in the evolutionary sense, but still all people are entitled to their own diet regimen.

How was the Arby's venison? I love deer meat but that isn't something normally so mass produced like beef, so I am hesitant to try from a fast food joint.

Be careful if you want to go vegan vs vegetarian. No cows or bees died providing milk and honey yet god encourages we consume both according to the 3 major western religions' scriptures. Veganism doesn't allow any food from an animal and requires you to eat quinoa, kale, and tofu with every meal and insists you become a stuck up judgemental douche that hates humanity.

Not at all, it is first of all a choice only extremely privileged folks can make. Caveats of course for Indians and areas where animal is scarce or priced higher than meat substitutes.
This lifestyle is extremely labor intensive almonds potentially killing more animals than small farms, in the long run at least.
We've existed for millions of years without a hint of veganism, I don't even think Jains are necessarily vegan, and now only a very small fraction of people do this.

What is also abnormal is of course the meat industry which are some of the most dangerous jobs for humans as well. To eat processed or factory killed meat, or milk from dairy cow or eggs is abnormal.

However I can say from personal experience small organic farms are still disgusting.

What is 'normal' to look at us as a species is to hunt animal and gather fruit and nuts. That is taking into account all our time. But today it is only 5 million who do this, which is coincidentally the same amount who did 10,000 years ago (pre-agriculture)/the population at the time.

Other abnormal things that kill animal are roads, buildings, pollution, and of course the guy you buy almond milk from who uses this money to buy a hamburger 😂

Vegans are humans that just like to complicate things and make life miserable. Basically they're humans that should have been aborted but their parents where too fucking stupid to know how.

  • yumri

no but morally it is probably better if you do not like killing others
evolutionary and biologically the strict vegan diet leaves out a lot that the human body needs so it is hard for most to keep to thus why no alot of people do it also most ppl like meat cow, pig, goat, cat, dog, if it moves and it has any muscle on it ppl will kill and eat it unless it is poisonous to which they will give it to their enemy to eat

    • Theoretically, would you say God favors those who are vegan? Like he jumps for joy or does a big tip of the cap at the sight of one of us choosing to go vegan? (PER SE)
