Hi. Do employers know your medical records? And is have depression and other mental health issues make you less likely to be hired?

Thanks. I appreciate it.

No, not unless you make it obvious that you're really depressed.

I thin what ellnell was saying was -
If you have physical limitations that prevent you from doing certain kinds of work, they will need to know.
Mental disorders though, they do not need to know that.

Exactly. Well I meant both physical and neurological but they don't need to know everything unless it's necessary.

Employers are generally looking for someone who can do the job well if not better than anyone else. Put yourself in your future employers shoes and tell him exactly what they want to hear.

It really depends...most employers do bot have access to your medical records. If you choose to mention it during interviews I tend to think it will hurt your chances rather than help. Unless its considered a disability then it might be a plus.
I see no need to mention it.

It may not prevent it entirely. Ideally they should have a job like anyone else. But lets be honest, employers main priority is always gonna be how much you benefit the workplace. Knowing you have depression can make them doubt your effectiveness. Would there be times where you just dont come to work or have to take longer breaks at work due to depression? Then its only logical to think they would rather hire someone who spends nearly all their work time effectively. Anyway getting a job is hard for almost anyone nowadays, you dont need to have any conditon.

No they have no way of knowing about any condition you got unless you tell them.
I don't think it would matter much, especially if you have good qualifications and things have worked well in past jobs.
Some people do tell about something they've been diagnosed with at the workplace because they may need adjustments when it comes to certain things suck as working hours for example but that's entirely up to each individual what they believe they might need their boss to know.
