    I think the ability to post images alongside stories and polls really helps to illustrate the question you are posing. Also private messaging is useful if you want to connect with users on the site you find interesting or inspirational. I'm too much of a cheapass to buy IIN gold for myself but greatly appreciate the few times I have been lucky enough to have it bought for me. Maybe in the future I will purchase it to help the site financially, I think I probably owe it by now.
