Without going into a whole lot of detail: This is a statement often claimed by those of the Islamic faith - But their track record thesedays isn't really great is it?
I suppose the same can be said of many religions, but let's focus on Islam for now and try not to bring comparisons into this.

No, Islam is a religion of terrorism.
They believe that anyone that won't convert to their religion must be killed and that killing others secures them a place in heaven.

i Agree!!!!! yes the non-moslems provoke us and they want to show like Islam is the terrorist. but however they do their sh*t, still so many more people revert to Islam, with no being forced at all. GREAT :)

That is completely un-Islamic and barbaric. That practice is not taught in Islam at all.

Unfortunately, there is Islamic hadith that supports the circumcision of women. As horrible as that is.
I think "religion of peace" is a bit of a stupid term to use for any religion, Islam included. As far as I know none of the major world religions are inherently peaceful or warlike, it all comes down to what the followers of it use it to justify. Really, Islam gives plenty of things you can use to justify peace and plenty of things you can use to justify war; you can really justify whatever you like in the name of religion. Which begs the question - are religions just things people use to justify whatever they were going to do anyway?
Every religion is peaceful. It's what their followers do that isn't "peaceful."

I studied theology for two years, no religion is peacfull at it's core, they can't be that's how it assurts it's dottrine, and propagates in a population (much like a defence mecanism), a religion is no good if the number of leavers outbeats the number of joiners. now i know quite a few muslums, i fact my best friend is and she is the most good harted person I know but she is also a very mild muslum(she has boyfriends and dosen't even ware a veil).
what makes Islam different from the other monotheistic religions is is the fact it still in the hily defencive and consevative "fase" that many religions experience in the first few hundered years of it's development, just think of how cristianity acted in the first few hundered yeas of it's propagation, (crusades,strict religion based rules, censorship of art, knolege, wich and heretic butnings ecc.) in fact Islam is behaving much like cristianity did 500 years ago... islam being about 500 years younger that cristianiy.
Well they call themselves peaceful but a lot of their followers engage in terrorism. They love to kill Christians. Currently they're trying to expel the moderate leaders in the mid east in order to install more radical Islamic leaders.
The supreme leaders have said their goal is to conquer the world for islam and institute shariah law...oh the freedom you can expect then.
Anyone who thinks Islam is not a religion of peace obviously has never read the Qur'an. Muslims may not all be peaceful people but Islam itself is a religion of peace. Many Muslim individuals and theocratic Muslim states do things in the name of Islam that is totally un-Islamic.
Perhaps before you decide if Islam is a religion of peace you should do a little research. If you think Islam is not peaceful but any of the other main religions are, then then you really are very confused.

There are 5 human rights are highly respected and nurtured by the Islamic religion, the Religion, Life, Treasure, lineage and honor.
Any person who committed abuses and crimes against five human rights can not be accepted, and Islam give severe punishment to the perpetrators. as the Holy Qur'an says: "Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors". Islam prohibits the use of all means to reach their goals. In the atmosphere of a war once, Islam provides guidelines and ethical war: killing people who should not have been surrendered, can not kill the women, the elderly, small children, should not damage the plant, or place of worship. Prisoners of war in Islam is also maintained and treated humanely.
Therefore, any act of violence, murder or bombings, then the action can not be tolerated, can not be accepted, whoever the perpetrators, whatever their religion. and Islam distance themselves from those kinda actions. and more over, we never insult Jesus (PBUH) by drawing it insane ways. we respect other reliogions, so please respect ours. it's the islamic rule that no one can draw Muhammad (PBUH). Why people can't just respect it? why provoke us?

First look at all the recent events associated with the religion, second read and study the rules and the religion itself, I would not say go live there since I am not sure how they would react to outsiders since most people are too scared to go near those countries.
Study who the prophets are and what they preach. Study and research some of the famous figures that the countries and religion seemed to follow. If you do this you should have an answer for yourself. Why don't you all stop asking about the religion and just study it.
Any Muslim is going to say its a great religion. Any person who disagrees with the custom is not going to like Muslims. Taking there word since your dating a Muslim is probobly true for them not you.

Christians don't promote slavery. The old testament mentioned people who had slaves, and said to conquer other nations, but Jesus never promoted slavery. He specifically spoke against it. Most people don't realize that the old testament is a history book. The guide to christianity is held within the new testament.

I pretty much agree with dom180. I think, religion is sometimes more about what you call yourself than what you believe; more about identifying yourself as a follower of a particular religion and thereby a part of a certain group of people.
