Is it considered self-harm if i scratched myself on purpose?

Is it considered self-harm if I scratched myself on purpose and don’t bleed? I guess I was just experimenting to see if I feel any different. Its a small scratch and I put rubbing alcohol on it but it barely even hurt lol

If you do it with the purpose of harming yourself, then yes.

Yes, this is self harm and you deserve to get help with the issues that pushed you towards it. I don’t know what resources are available to you but have you considered asking your doctor about help with depression? Does your workplace offer counselling?

Recognising this is a problem, getting help early and not letting it spiral is the best thing you can do. It’s not “just a scratch” self harm is self harm and you deserve support.

I self harm all the time, it's normal. Mostly by stubbing my toe on the bed post, sometimes by touching a hot pan. Or waiting too long to floss, causing my gums to bleed.

Yes, it’s self-harm. At least experiment it by encouraging some cats to scratch you so you can get rid of the ‘self’ word.
