Is it just me or do anti-depressants age you faster?

I'm 24 and I've been on anti-depressants for almost a year now, I've noticed that my skin on my face looks very aged, I look almost 30!!!! Do you think it could be the anti-depressants?

I don't know about aging but they definitely have negative side effects. Ive been on Effexor for two years and Ive become very complacent Also my weight fluctuates a lot, at first I lost a LOT of weight but now Ive gained too much. Losing and gaining weight can appear to age you.

Its most likely a side-effect. Those laboratory made medications are often very dangerous. You should see if you can switch to something herbal.

I don't know much about meds at all, but I've noticed that some celebrities who come out of rehab seem very different in appearance to the way they used to look. Sometimes their faces get a kind of bloated or puffy look and you notice double-chins that weren't there before. I don't know what kind of drugs they took, so it's just a very general observation.

I doubt its the antidepressants coz they should at least ease the muscles in your face from less crying or scowling. I look at least 10-15 years younger than my friends who all drank and smoked through our teenage years, and 20s, whereas I never did!

Oh yeah, stress could do it too.

Not sure if its the anti depressants, but it could be a lot of other things as well. Are you out in the sun a lot? Tanning? Getting enough sleep? Do you drink a lot of alcohol? Take any drugs? And make up might also do it as well. Use a lot of it?

If it makes you feel any better, you probably look fine, and not really old at all. I bet you're just worrying yourself too much.

I've been on antidepressants for years and I look young for my age. I always get people telling me that. I would say it is something else making you look older. Btw I am 31, could and have passed for early twenties.

I've been on an anti-depressant (Lexapro) for 7 years. Everyone tells me that I look young for my age (I'm in my early 20s and I'm still asked what grade I'm in at school).
