Is it just me or do only old people use the word "nude"

Instead of naked. Seems like only people 50+ say "nude", so whenever I see it in posts here I imagine the OP is a 50-something year old man, since it's usually in conjunction with some fetish-related thing(i.e. Sunbathing in the park). Or is "nude" more commonly used outside the US?

For us who don't speak English natively those subtle differences are not so clear. I always thought "nude" was a more polite or artsy way of saying "naked". Bein naked sounds accidental or inappropriate while being nude sounds more like a choice.
If I show you a famous nude by Michael Angelo it seems very cultural. Sounds weirder if I say: "A naked guy by Michael Angelo"

I agree, that's how I always looked at it as well, "nude" sounds way more classy and tasteful, makes you think of art.

  • Michelangelo, not Michael Angelo. Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni.

I once thought that masturbating was a sin, because of my upbringing by my puritanical parents. Consequently I once went nearly two and a half years without masturbating in my twenties. I guarded my thoughts. I was careful about what kind of stuff I looked at. I didn't even touch my dick except the minimal amount required to wash up or use the bathroom. Then one day while reading a story in the newspaper I came across the word "naked", and it hit me like an arrow in Achille's heel, and all I could think of after that was how bad I needed to JO! So I did.
Words have a lot of power. A picture can be worth a thousand words, and a word can be worth a thousand pictures.
In my mind nude and naked both conjure up the same images.
