Is it normal death threats over a game?

Me and my friends were playing an online game together, and we met a new person to play with us. Eventually we found out he was pretty much a big jerk, the final straw was when he "accidentally" killed nearly all of my friends including me, so my friends ganged up on him and killed him in the game.

He was pissed about it and started sending really nasty messages to my friend like go kill yourself, no one will miss you, you whore, I hope you die, etc. We reported it and hopefully he is banned, but is it normal to act like this over a game? He didn't even lose anything important in it.

    Lol guy is an asshole that doesn't get it is a fucking game that is supposed to be fun. Have forty year old men act like this occasionally and they get laughed off the court.Even funnier, 80 year old society women throwing a fit over losing at bridge..

    After watching my grandson playing on his console.he get very angry and aggressive when playing.so I presume its very normal behaviour
