Is it normal for a cat to get a long blade of grass stuck up his nose?

My cat started sneezing abnormally frequently. Then he started 'looking like' he was going to hack up a hair ball ALL the time! I couldn't figure out what was going on but thought I better take him to the vet. In the car, I saw a bit of green in the corner of his nostril. Not wanting to embarrass him (or me, for that matter) I picked, what I assumed was a booger from his nose. The booger turned into a 6 inch blade of grass. I tossed it in the parking lot and went into the vet anyway. His nose was seriously inflamed and the vet said he'd be fine. Is that something that happens to cats frequently? Have any of YOU had a cat with grass up his/her nose? Do tell!

    Since he was exploring the outdoors, something was probably bound to get stuck somewhere. Lol
    I didn't have a cat that happened to, but I did have a dog that once got a shard of glass stuck in her paw. Was nowhere near a vet, so we had to remove it, sanitize it, and bandage it ourselves. She seemed relieved it was taken care of.

    Six inches?wow!
    Why didn't you ask the vet this question? I'm not sure but he may well be better qualified to answer.

    I've shared a house with various cats for several decades, and I can recall that happening a couple of times. Cats eat grass when they feel the need to vomit, and when they upchuck, an unchewed, stiff blade of grass can get diverted up into their sinuses rather than going up into the back of their mouth.

    That sort of thing never happens to my cat, because he's a strictly indoor cat. He never goes outside unsupervised.

          Thanks! Yes, and he doesn't have parasites of any kind, no fleas, no ticks, no worms, no toxoplasma.
