Is it normal for a guy in their 20s to be into my little pony?

I've been chatting to a bloke on the internet and he is a big fan of the My Little Pony cartoon series....Is this normal at 26/27 years old???

I'm female and I don't watch it at all and this guy appears to be sexually heterosexual. I don't like being gender specific (growing up I wanted to play with trains and cars more then dolls) but surely there are better things to do in your 20s then watch My Little Pony? Can anybody shed some light on this please?

"Sexually heterosexual"? Are you saying that his interest in My Little Pony makes him non-sexually homosexual? I hope you realize how ridiculous that sounds. Grow up.

    • Not at all! You don't understand the whole story. I bet men of all sexualities watch MLP with no influence on their sexual orientation whatsoever. I made the comment so because this MLP fan I've been chatting to is seriously interested in me sexually and I'd never heard of guys watching MLP and I wanted to know if this was a trend going around.

OK, sorry if I read you wrong. It's just some people are like that and it irritates me. I didn't mean to insult you personally or anything.

Some people never totally grow up, and it's cute in a way. Some, like Walt Disney, use their childish creativity to great ends.

hello everypony! haha nah seriously I was playing some cod and this dude had a pony emblem and i was like why do you have a pony emblem because i was interested. All the other guys were calling him a faggot but he explained how the show was really good and done well with the voice actors and stuff and how it was actually pretty funny, its just a fun clean show is what he said. So I went on netflix a couple days later and came across a documentary that was in my top picks since i watch a lot of documentary's it was the brony thing that talked about all these older guys who were into the show. After that i searched netflix for the show and there it was. It sat in my queue for a while but i finally decided to watch it. I was instantly hooked on it. I love the show its no different than watching Arthur or Dragon Tales or Phineas and Ferb it teaches you lessons about friendship and understanding and its just like he said good clean fun. So please dont judge dudes that watch the show or Bronys as their called its just ignorant give the show a try if you dont like it you dont have to watch it but dont hate on it its really great.

No this is not normal at all. I so surprised no one has figured it out yet. I am also sick of seeing pony pone everywhere. I am never having children. I don't want to bring anything into this ill world anymore. One of the most innocent shows has been ruined...

Excuse you My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is my favourite non-Asian cartoon. It has lovely characters, great plot and it's funny and cute.

Oh snap. It's a Brony. I'm friends with at least two of those. I feel like others are closeted.

Yeah, its normal. There is an insanely large fan base behind it for some reason but it is no different than any other cartoon show, this one just happens to be filled with ponies and a clear female target audience but you know what? I sat down one day on Youtube and watched an episode for myself. Afterwards, I found myself wanting to watch episode 2, no questions. The fact that it had a plot and many different personalities was entertaining. Even if it wasn't MLP, the male equivalent would be older or newer Dragonball, Megaman, Gundam and other series which would mean at age 27+, said guy would still be sitting down watching something. I wouldn't worry about MLP, its just a huge fad.

If you want an even more impressive following, look up Touhou. It feels like there are more Touhou music remixes on Youtube than other vids combined and the games are visually and musically impressive with just as diverse a cast as MLP, and also has only female characters. *heck ya, advertisement complete*

    • sounds like you've been brain washed :) I've tried watching an episode and all I saw was a cartoon aimed at very young girls with mild references to adult (obliviously done to make it watchable for kids and parents) Still confused why a guy with no kids would watch it...but can understand dads liking it...(sort of) Just imaging if my dad would have watched....pretty sure he wouldn't have. Probably just my upbringing that's made me confused :)

Not even close, haha. I did say I only watched one episode so I'm not hooked or anything and the fans who take it overboard are the brainwashed ones. I actually watch anime instead but if someone merely watched the show for casual entertainment purposes then what harm could it be? As mentioned though, if someone calls him self a BIG fan of the show at age 27+ and takes part in collecting figurines or in-depth discussions about it then they should definitely watch something with a little less pony magic and a bit more Kamehameha.

        • Ha, don't know if Kamehameha is phrase or something but I had to google it and got a guy who conquered the Hawaiian Islands :D

I suppose that is true but I was actually referring to Goku's energy attack from the Dragonball series. Image searching it would get better results. You probably saw it mentioned too, funny that there was an actual guy named like that though, now I'll be picturing that guy's face instead. =/

He's a brony/ponyfag/horsefucker (different parts of the fandom use different titles for themselves). I don't know about "normal", but it's fairly common for people who have watched My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Yes, I am one too.

    • hmmmmmm I'm not sure if there's anything I do that people find weird...never asked anyone but there probably is! This guy is very much "interested" in me, his icon on his profile on the website I'm talking on is of my little pony and when I fist started chatting to him I thought I was chatting to a girl...so when I found out otherwise that whole first impression threw me. Didn't know about this new MLP remake that was drawing in kids and adults alike. But its just a TV programme, we're chatting well and I'm ignoring my first impression and knowing him better :)

Has anyone ever noticed how the top comment always dictates everyone's responses. Since this one had comments like "FUCK MY LITTLE PONY," everyone responded the same way.

Now if the top comment happened to be "MLP FTW!!! BRONIES!," then the results would have been different.

It's normal. Lauren Faust is an animation genius. The show is reminiscent of her classic cartoons and yet still fresh. Young men who grew up with her work love MLP for this reason. And cuz it's so cute :3 And if a man cannot appreciate cuteness but a woman can, then you suck at equality.

    • I just watched an episode too to see what the fuss was about. All I saw a young girly cartoon with a mild reference to adults which was probably done to make it enjoyably for parents to watch with their kids.....still make some wander why a generation of young males who aren't parents enjoy it but ah well...guess its not for everyone :)

I'm an 18 year old guy and, while I don't watch it regularly, if I'm ever bored I do consider My Little Pony to be an option as something to watch. I heard a lot about it and decided to give it a shot, and you know what, its not a bad show. Honestly it is no different than watching any other cartoon on tv.

I know a lot of guys who watched Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, and some who even watched it with their kids and loved it.

I'm seriously sick and tired of assholes who compare bronies to pedophiles. its fine to not like the show, but being a fan of the show (and/or masturbating to ponies) has nothing to do with wanting to rape kids! so kindly take your pedo accusations and fuck off.
