There's no way anyone here can tell you what was going on in his head or in his pants in the period leading up to him getting wood. its a natural thing that happens and should never be hid or embarrassed about it. when I get an erection I don't hide it at all, but let the world see it. really noticeable more so when you have shorts that are loose fitting . stands up and straight out.

I'm not sure it's "normal" to hide it. Maybe he was just embarrassed because you make him hard! If it was me and I was attracted to you, I wouldn't make any effort to hide it.
